MACHINE-SPECIFIC SAFETY WARNINGS
• See “Safety Instructions” manual, supplied with this
instruction manual.
• WARNING! When sanding materials such as lead paint,
certain types of wood and metal, the dust pro-duced is
harmful/toxic. It is important to determine whether the paint
being sanded contains lead or not before starting work.
Protect yourself from inhaling this dust, in compliance with
current regulations on accident prevention, by wearing a
mask designed for working with lead paint and fumes.
• WARNING! Pregnant women and children should not
enter any area where paint is being sanded until it has been
thoroughly cleaned. Pregnant women and children are at
greater risk from lead poisoning.
• For your personal safety, always connect the machine to a
mains supply protected by a differential and thermal cutout
switch, in accordance with regulations on low-voltage wiring
sitemaps.
• Do not perforate the machine casing, as this would destroy
the protective insulation (use adhesive labels).
• Remove the pin from the base of the plug before carrying
out any adjustment, repairs or maintenance.
• WARNING! Before each use, inspect the plug and lead.
Should they need replacing, have this done by an official
service centre.
• Always keep the lead out of the machine’s working area.
• Only plug the machine in when it is switched off.
• When using the machine, always wear safety goggles,
gloves and non-slip footwear, and it is advisable to wear ear
protection.
• Hold the machine by the insulated grip areas when carrying
out any operation in which the cutting tool may touch hidden
or its own lead. If a live wire makes contact with any of the
machine’s exposed metal parts, it may give the operator an
electric shock.
• Hold the machine firmly in both hands.
• Make sure that the belt is not in contact with the part to be
worked on before switching on.
• Keep hands away from rotating parts.
• Do not put the machine down whilst it is operating.
Use it only when holding it in your hands.
• Do not allow the machine to get wet, nor should it be used in
wet environments. Do not allow the surface of the part being
worked on to come into contact with water.
• Do not touch the sandpaper during or immediately after
working, as it becomes very hot and can cause serious
burns.
• Never attempt to clean off dust or shavings resulting from
sanding when the machine is operating.
