Hand/arm vibrations
The vibration emission level given in this information
sheet has been measured in accordance with a stand-
ardised test given in EN 60745 and may be used to
compare one tool with another. It may be used for a
preliminary assessment of exposure.
The declared vibration emission level represents the
main applications of the tool. However if the tool is
used for different applications, with different accesso-
ries or poorly maintained, the vibration emission may
differ. This may significantly increase the exposure
level over the total working period.
An estimation of the level of exposure to vibration
should also take into account the times when the tool
is switched off or when it is running but not actually
doing the job. This may significantly reduce the expo-
sure level over the total working period.
Identify additional safety measures to protect the
operator from the effects of vibration such as: maintain
the tool and the accessories, keep the hands warm,
organisation of work patterns.
Handling hazardous dusts
For work procedures with this power tool where
material is removed, dusts develop that can be hazard-
ous to one’s health.
Contact with or inhaling some dust types, e. g. asbestos
and asbestos-containing materials, lead-containing coat-
ings, metal, some wood types, minerals, silicate particles
from materials containing stone, paint solvents, wood
preservatives, and antifouling paints for vessels, can trig-
ger allergic reactions to the operator or bystanders and/
or lead to respiratory infections, cancer, birth defects or
other reproductive harm. The risk from inhaling dusts
depends on the exposition. Use dust extraction matched
appropriately for the developing dust, as well as personal
protective equipment and provide for good ventilation of
the workplace. Leave the processing of asbestos-contain-
ing materials to specialists.
Wood and light-metal dust, hot mixtures of sanding
dust and chemical materials can self-ignite under unfa-
vourable conditions or cause an explosion. Avoid
sparking in the direction of the dust collector as well
as overheating of the power tool and the materials
being sanded, empty the dust collector/container in
time, observe the material manufacturer’s working
instructions, as well as the relevant regulations in your
country for the materials being worked.
At a glance.
The following numbering of the product fea-
tures refers to the illustrations at the begin-
ning of this Instruction Manual. (See the
respective Figure on pages 3 and 5)

Instructions for putting into operation.
Mounting the auxiliary handle (except for
MSfov852, MSfov852-1-180) (Figure 5).
➤
Screw the auxiliary handle tightly onto the
left or right side of the power tool, depending
on the working method.
Mounting the guard (Figure 4).
➤
Loosen the tightening screw (4d).
➤
Mount the wheel guard (4). Turn the wheel
guard (4) to the required working position, then
clamp the wheel guard (4) with the clamping
screw (4d).
MSfov852-1, MSfov852-1-180 (Figure 3):
➤
Remove the 3 hexagon nuts (3c) using the
open-jawed wrench, size 8 mm (7g).
➤
Position the wheel guard (3) into the
required working position on the threaded pins.
➤
Fasten the wheel guard (3) using the 3 wash-
ers and hexagon nuts (3c).
Mounting the hand protection (Figure 6).
➤
Unscrew the auxiliary handle (5).
➤
Screw the hand protection (6) tightly onto
the auxiliary handle (5).
Connection to the power supply.
The power tool is supplied from the factory with a
connection cable without a plug.
Recommendation: For protection against overstress-
ing, the power tool is fitted with an appropriate FEIN
motor protection plug.
The plug should be mounted by an electrical
expert.
Before putting into operation, check the direc-
tion of rotation of the drive shaft without any
mounted wheels and have it corrected if it does
not agree. The direction of rotation is marked
on the power tool with an arrow.
The output voltage and the power supply fre-
quency must agree with the specifications on the
name plate of the power tool.
If FEIN frequency converters are used, reliable opera-
tion of the power tool is guaranteed.
Follow the steps in the operating instructions of
the frequency converter.
