2. Introduction
The software package
Smartshelf
Demo consists of two programs.
The first program is called
Smartshelf
. This program is an executable binary file for the
i-scan
Readers ID ISC.LR2000 and ID ISC.LRU2000.
This program was developed as an example for registering and managing the current stock of a
warehouse. For instance an possible application is to check the availability of a product, or the
availability of books in a library.
With this program it is possible to use up to 512 antennas with max. 73 multiplexers of type ID
ISC.ANT.MUX for Reader ID ISC.LR2000 or ID ISC.ANT.UMUX for Reader ID ISC.LRU2000.
The program makes inventory commands and if there is a transponder in field it inserts this trans-
ponder with its attributes into a taglist. Furthermore there is a notification function implemented
which generates status messages if a transponder is detected or lost. The application then sends a
message to the client side Windows program called
SmartShelfDemo
, which is the second pro-
gram. SmartShelfDemo let’s you also change reader settings, i.e. the number of antennas and the
threshold.
The number of antennas value is (obviously) how many antennas are connected. You need to set
the number of antennas only if you use the HF-Reader ID ISC.LR2000, because it can not detect
antennas automatically. Threshold means how often a transponder could not respond until it will be
deleted from the taglist (the reader will then send a “LOST” notification). There is even a possibility
to connect FEIG’s demo application ISOSTART to change the configuration of the reader. In this
case the protocols are forwarded to the reader and the received protocols are returned to
ISOSTART.
With the
SmartshelfDemo
program it is possible to show the complete contents of the taglist from
the embedded program
Smartshelf
. Event messages are received when there is a new trans-
ponder in field or a transponder was lost. The messages are sent as standard XML documents.
