11. Install the custom length end spacer.
NOTES:
This spacer is dimensionally different
than the stage spacers. On some installations,
this end spacer may be engraved to help distin

guish it from standard stock spacers.

9. For:
Single Shell Pumps:
Install discharge ring on top of stage stack.
Two Shell Pumps:
Install discharge ring on top of stage stack.
Lubricate and install the series shell
O-ring.
10. Carefully lower the end shell over the stag-
es using safe lifting and handling methods.
Align the end shell flange with the series
shell flange (serial number stamping op
-
posite to inlet). Install the shell flange bolts/
lock washers and torque to value specified
in the
Fastener Torque Specifications
sec-
tion of this manual.
NOTES:
Make sure there is no gap between
flanges after tightening bolts.

8. For:
Single Shell Pumps:
Skip this step.
Two Shell Pumps:
Install end shell stage components: stage
spacers, impellers, and diffusers.
(For MSS-50/70 pumps, the last diffuser
bowl/ discharge ring is welded within the
end shell).
NOTES:
Verify diffuser bushings have been
pre-installed before assembly.
