5. FOIL
5.1.
FOIL Specifications
Opening time of tip contact: 14ms, according to FIE regulations.
Double hit time: 300ms +/-25ms, according to FIE regulations.
Automatic rearmament: after 2 seconds.
Hit signalling mode: see ch. 5.3.
5.2.
FOIL Calibration
Before starting foil training/matches, the calibration procedure for each
TRANSMITTER must be effectuated.
If the TRANSMITTER is not calibrated, the RECEIVER will signal a flashing “C” at
every hit.
Effectuate the calibration by following the indications below for fencer position (see Fig.
5):
•
upright/standing position
•
arm extended forwards
•
tight grip on the weapon
•
hit the opponent's jacket 3 times in rapid succession: a fixed “C” will light up and
be displayed on the RECEIVER if calibration took place correctly.
The fencer opponent must remain in an erect position, while their weapon should not
touch the piste or the jacket and their free hand should also not touch the jacket or the
weapon.
