Finding the No-Parallax
Point of a Lens
Wiki definition of Entrance Pupil:
Once you establish the lens and focal length you will be using, there are two
positions to set up on your Nodal Ninja. The first is on the lower rail and the
second on the upper rail.
Lower rail setting:
1. Position the camera/lens on the upper rail so that it is pointing
downwards to the ground.
“The geometric location of the entrance pupil is the vertex of the camera's
angle of view and consequently its center of perspective, perspective
point, viewpoint, projection center, or no-parallax point. This point is
important in panoramic photography because the camera must be
rotated around it to avoid parallax errors in the final, stitched panorama.
Panoramic photographers often incorrectly refer to the entrance pupil as
a nodal point, which is a different concept“.
