2. INTRODUCTION
The Kolding can be installed as a Multi-Vent gas hearth or as a wall-
mounted heater (see H5, Installing the hearth).
The Multi-Vent gas hearths are designed for installation in living
areas and are only to be used in combination with the Faber Multi-
Vent system. The special Multi-Vent connections allow you to install
the inserts in well-sealed living areas or areas that were insulated
after construction.
The appliance has a sealed combustion chamber and should be
installed as a sealed appliance. The flue gases are drawn outside by
the natural draught of the apparatus itself with a combination intake
and exhaust. This same natural draught draws in the air needed for
combustion. This system of concentric pipes can be equipped with a
wall or roof vent outlet. To maintain the proper natural draught,
there must be a minimum of one meter of concentric pipe above the
hearth before the wall or roof outlet.
The Kolding is equipped with a series 9000 SIT OXYPILOT. This
protective device comes into operation if the concentration of carbon
dioxide in the combustion air supply becomes too high (more than
2% CO2). This can happen if the chimney has insufficient draught. If
the protective device comes into operation regularly, you should
consult your installer.
The wall vent unit, roof vent unit, pipes and elbows are packed
individually and shipped complete with a clip binding equipped with
a ring seal. Use the special (fax) form to order these items.
In special cases or if you are in doubt, we will be happy to do the
calculation for you.

1. FOREWORD
This hearth is supplied with instructions for use and installation.
The instructions for use are intended for the consumer and besides
information about the use of your hearth, the booklet also includes
advice on safety and maintenance.
In compiling the installation instructions, it has been assumed that
the hearth will be installed by a qualified gas-fitter who is familiar
with both national and local regulations.
This booklet first handles the installation of the hearth, and then
considers the possibilities and the installation of the Multi-Vent
system. It will not always be possible to install the hearth in that
order; constructional circumstances could require that the Multi-Vent
system be installed before the hearth. We therefore advise you to
first read the book thoroughly before installing the appliance and the
Multi-Vent system.
Please keep this book safely for future use.
