HELMET
It is strongly recommended to wear a helmet to
protect you from your board in case of a fall or any
other unexpected situations
WETSUIT
Choose a full-length wetsuit (water T° <19°C) or a
shorty (water T°>19°C) depending on the water
temperature. Be aware that you will use more energy
when you are cold.
LIFE VEST
The life vest can help you with waterstart. It might
also be welcomed if you ever have to swim back to
the shore.
WRIST LEASH
Attach the wrist leash on the pump connector in
order not to lose your wing.
BOARD LEASH
We recommend to use a board leash on the ankle.
When wearing a board leash, a helmet is strongly
recommended.
HARNESS LINE (OPTIONAL)
You can attach a harness line to the attachment
points located on the central strut.
THE BOARD
Choose a board with enough volume to float whilst
standing up.
The wing is neither a flying device (such as a
paraglider) nor a floating device and should not be
used as such. You should never go riding alone. It is
strongly recommended to practice in the company of
other users who could eventually call for assistance
or help in case of emergency.
RULE N°1 – YOUR OWN SAFETY
RULE N°2 - GET SET UP
CHOOSE YOUR SPOT ACCORDING TO YOUR
LEVEL
The choice of a good spot is a prerogative for a safe
learning. The water and wind conditions also vary,
advanced wingsurfers often look for strong wind and
swells when beginners should be looking for calmer
waters and softer winds.
WIND DIRECTION
Never ride in strong offshore wind. The wind can
drop at any moment. In offshore wind it is harder
to swim back to shore, the wind and the current
pushing away from the beach.
It is not recommended to ride when the wind is
onshore especially for beginners as the wind pushes
directly onto the beach. This will make your learning
harder: you will not be able to do good runs and go
upwind, and you will end up on the sand very quickly.
Therefore always ride while the wind is side or side
on, this will let you go downwind while keeping a safe
position in case of an emergency.
DOWNWIND AREA
Be cautious and check that there are no obstacles
going downwind. Keep in mind that the risk is to go
downwind, beginner or not. There is always a risk of
losing your board, therefore the beach downwind
should always be accessible. Think that you may
have to walk back along the beach (check that there
are no rocks, cliffs, fences, or jetties blocking your
way).
If you are just starting out or if you cannot entirely
control your wing yet, be careful as to where you
stand on the spot. If the spot is big enough, it is
better to stand downwind from other riders to avoid
riding across.
RULE N°3 - CHOOSE YOUR PRACTICE SPOT
SAFETY
WIND RANGE
THE WIND RANGES ARE EXPRESSED
IN KNOTS AND THE SIZES IN ACTUAL
SQUARE METERS.
THIS WIND RANGE IS GIVEN TO YOU AS
AN INDICATION FOR A RIDER WEIGHTING
75KG. WIND RANGE VARIES ACCORDING
TO EACH RIDER. IT DEPENDS ON:
• The rider’s level: the more you progress the more you
will be able to use the wing in the upper wind range.
• The rider’s weight: the bigger you are the more you
will be able to use the wing in the upper wind range.
• The type of board used and its volume.
You also must choose your wing according to:
the aerological situation (the airflow quality),
the weather conditions (wind direction, speed,
forecast), as well as the overall quality of the spot
and the level of safety it offers. When you get to the
spot, measure the wind speed.
SAFETY
READ CAREFULLY THIS USER GUIDE BEFORE USING YOUR WING AND KEEP IT
STORED FOR FUTURE READING.
A FEW SAFETY TIPS TO KNOW AND FOLLOW
Specialized equipment contributes to your own safety safety, but constant care and caution
remain the best way to avoid any problems.
