SIS Configuration and
Control
The XTP T USW 103 4K can be configured and controlled using Extron Simple Instruction Set
(SIS) commands or the XTP System Configuration Software (see
Configuration Software
on page 27). This section contains SIS communication details and SIS commands and
responses when connected directly to an XTP T USW 103 4K. Topics in this section include:

Host Device Connection
Use a computer running the Extron DataViewer utility or use a control system to enter SIS
commands. To connect directly to an XTP T USW 103 4K, connect the computer to the
front panel configuration port (see
figure 11 ,
B
on page 16) or the rear panel RS-232
connector (see figure 2 ,
H
on page 5). The protocol for the serial port is as follows: 9600
baud, no parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no flow control.
SIS Overview
Host and Device Communication
SIS commands consist of one or more characters per field. No special characters are required
to begin or end a command sequence. When the XTP T USW 103 4K determines that a
command is valid, it executes the command and sends a response to the host device. All
responses from the switcher to the host end with a carriage return and a line feed
(CR/LF =

), which signals the end of the response character string. A string is one or more
characters.
Unsolicited Message
When the switcher is connected through the serial port only and a local event occurs, the
device responds by sending a message to the host.
