The Extron FOX3 PowerCage Fiber Optic Transmitters are modular, compact single slot boards for the Extron PowerCage 411
that transmit lossless 4K @ 60 Hz video, audio, RS-232 control, and USB HID and USB 2.0 over fiber. This guide provides
instructions for an experienced installer to install and operate the devices.
WARNING:
The FOX3 PC transmitters output continuous invisible light (Class 1 rated), which may be harmful to the
eyes; use with caution. Plug the attached dust caps into the optical transceivers when the fiber cable is unplugged.

Installation
Board Installation
Install the transmitter into a PowerCage 411 enclosure as
required.
ATTENTION:
•
Use ESD precautions when installing a board to
avoid damaging it. Keep the board in the anti-static
bag until it is needed. Use proper grounding
techniques during installation.
•

Align board and
slide into slot.
NOTES:
•
FOX3 endpoints are not backwards compatible with FOX or FOX II endpoints.
•
A FOX3 endpoint with a LinkLicense cannot pass uncompressed 4K @ 60 Hz video signal to a FOX3 endpoint without
the LinkLicense.
•
PowerCage boards are hot-swappable.
•
Ensure the boards are flush with the rear of the enclosure and the screws are tightened securely before applying power.
•
Each slot is independent from other slots. The type of board installed in a slot or the order of slots filled does not impact
boards installed in other slots.
1.
If applicable, remove any blank plates or previously installed boards from the PowerCage 411 enclosure to fit the board.
2.
With the ports facing away from the PowerCage 411 enclosure and the screws positioned at the top, align the bottom board
edges with the posts of the desired slots on the PowerCage 411 enclosure.
3.
Carefully slide the board into the slot and push it firmly into place.
4.
Tighten the screws with a tool to secure the board to the enclosure.
