UL guidelines for rack mounting
The following Underwriters Laboratories (UL) guidelines pertain to the installation of the
DVS 510 in a rack:
•
Elevated operating ambient temperature
— If the equipment is installed in a closed
or multi-unit rack assembly, the operating ambient temperature of the rack environment
may be greater than room ambient. Therefore, consider installing the equipment in an
environment compatible with the maximum ambient temperature (Tma) specified by the
manufacturer.
•
Reduced air flow
— Install the equipment in the rack so that the amount of air flow
required for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised.
•
Mechanical loading
— Mount the equipment in the rack so that uneven mechanical
loading does not create a hazardous condition.
•
Circuit overloading
— When connecting the equipment to the supply circuit, consider
the effect that circuit overloading might have on overcurrent protection and supply
wiring. Consider equipment nameplate ratings when addressing this concern.
•
Reliable earthing (grounding)
— Maintain reliable grounding of rack-mounted
equipment. Pay particular attention to supply connections other than direct connections
to the branch circuit (such as the use of power strips).
Rack mounting procedure
The DVS 510 scaler is delivered with MBD 249 mounting brackets attached. For optional
rack mounting, do not install the rubber feet.
Mount the scaler in the rack as follows (see
1.
Insert the unit into the rack and align the holes in the mounting brackets with the holes
in the rack.
2.
Use four machine screws (provided) to attach the brackets to the rack.
