WARNING
Incorrect installation of the blade or
components used to retain the blade can
be dangerous. Failure to use all original
components and assembled as shown could
allow a blade or blade component to be thrown
out from under the deck resulting in serious
personal injury or death.
Always install the original Exmark blades
and blade retaining hardware as shown in the
Operator’s manual.
9.
Install hardware back into the hole in the top of the
deck where the discharge baffle was removed. For
Lazer, Lazer XP, and Lazer XS units Serial Number
539,000 and lower, reinstall the belt guide with a spring
disc washer under the head of the inner bolt and adjust
the belt guide 1/8 inch from the belt. All open holes
in the top of the deck not covered by shields must be
plugged to prevent sand or other small objects from
being thrown up through the deck.
10.
Tighten all hardware.
11.
Carefully remove the jack stands and lower the machine
to the ground.
Removing the Mulch Kit
To convert the deck back to side discharge:
1.
Stop engine and wait for all moving parts to stop,
engage parking brake, remove key, and disconnect the
negative battery cable.
2.
Remove mulching baffles, blocker baffle, and cover
plate.
3.
Install the discharge baffle that was removed in step
of
Installing the Mulch Kit
section.
4.
Replace the mulching blades with standard blades.
Refer to step
of
Installing the Mulch Kit
for blade
torque.
5.
Install 5/16-18 x 5/8 inch hex head capscrew and
whizlock nut in the hole on top of the deck with the
bolt head underneath. Install 5/16-18 x 5/8 inch hex
head capscrew and whizlock nut in the two holes in the
front of the deck with the bolt heads to the outside of
the deck. All open holes not covered by belt shields
must be plugged to prevent sand or other small objects
from being thrown up through the deck.
6.
Flip down the discharge deflector.
DANGER
An uncovered discharge opening will allow
objects to be thrown in an operator's or
bystander's direction. Also, contact with the
blade could occur. Thrown objects or blade
contact can cause serious injury or death.
Never operate the mower with the side
discharge door raised, removed, or altered
unless there is a discharge deflector and mulch
plug in place and working properly.
