Preparing and installing the fan assembly

CX242DDWTEVB (DIRECT DRIVE)

 

Remove the fan blade and wire the motor first. See Step 8 
on page 12.

 

Replace and secure the blade so it is about half in and half 
out of the hub. 

 

Tighten the fan blade set screw before operating and 
make sure the hub of the fan blade assembly is facing up 
towards the roof. 

 

Push the fan assembly through the shutter opening 
diagonally or through another attic access. 

 

Place the frame on top of the facing or additional frame 
and draw alignment marks around the base of the 
assembly.

 

Secure the assembly to the facing using screws.

CX30BD-2SPDEVB (BELT DRIVE)

 

Remove the hardware and remount the motor on the top 
side of the struts. 

 

Position the fan belt on the pulleys and adjust it to fit 
snugly with about 1/2-in. deflection. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN 
THE BELT! 

 

Tighten the fan blade set screw and make sure the hub of 
the fan blade assembly is facing up towards the roof.

 

Push the fan assembly through the shutter opening 
diagonally or through another attic access. 

 

Place the frame on top of the facing or additional frame 
and draw alignment marks around the base of the 
assembly. 

 

Secure the assembly to the facing using screws.

Installing the shutter

CAUTION:

 Never operate the fan without the shutter 

installed.

 

Draw alignment marks on the ceiling 7/8 in. from the edges 
to indicate the outer edges of the shutter (B) frame. 

 

Install the shutter (B) using the white-headed wood screws 
(F) provided with your fan. 

 

Caulk the seams for an airtight seal.
