8• MAINTENANCE
The stress of the spring (L1-L0) in the engaged position, when the
motor is stopped, must be maintained at a value between 4 and 5 mm
for the clutch cable blade, and between 22 and 25 mm for the clutch
cable advance (see picture 17).
Eventual adjustments can eventually be done by moving the case stop
located under the handlebar control plate :
• Loosen the nut and slide the cable stop in the correct direction and
then tighten and check it.
When the clutch control is released, no cable tension must be exerted
on the spring.
ENGINE MAINTENANCE
Before any maintenance operation and in order to avoid any
risk in case of accidental start of the mower, take out the
plug top. Empty the engine outside.
ENGINE EMPTYING
• The first emptying has to be done after the 8 first working hours.
These hours have to be considered like a burn in period during the
one you have to run the engine carefully.
• Next emptying has to be done every 50 hours. If the mower is
used in difficult conditions (high temperature), plan more frequent
emptying.
Be careful with used hot oil.
EMPTYING METHOD
Empty the oil out when the engine is still hot.
• Clean around the dipstick cap.
• Remove the dipstick cap. Turn the engine on its side, with the air
filter facing upwards. Drain the oil into an appropriate vessel.
• Once the sump is completely empty, put the engine upright again.
• Fill the sump with new oil. The oil level must reach the [FULL]
mark of the gauge.
• Put the dipstick cap back and tighten firmly.
Remove the used oil in an approved recycling center.
AIR FILTER (PICTURE 19)
It is inevitable that impurities will get into the air filter. That is why it
is essential that you regularly remove the cartridge of the air filter for
cleaning (every 25 hours or more often in dusty conditions).
• Unscrew the cover (A) of the air filter and remove it.
• Carefully remove all the paper cartridge with the prefilter (B).
• Clean the inside of the lid (A) and the base (C) of the air filter.
• Remove the foam prefilter (B1) from the paper cartridge (B2).
• Clean the paper cartridge (B2) by gently tapping it on a flat
surface.
Do not use solvent and do not use compressed air, as
they could damage the cartridge. Do not oil the cartridge.
Replace it if worn or dirty, every 50 hours or at least once
a year.
• Wash the foam prefilter (B1) in detergent and water and dry
completely before reinstalling it in the paper cartridge.
• Reinstall the new or cleaned cartridge (B) on its base (C).
• Replace the cover (A) of the air filter and screw it in.
SPARK PLUG (PICTURE 20)
Clean periodically the electrode (b) and check his spacing (a) with a
block (0,7 to 0,8 mm). Do not hesitate to replace used spark. Replace
the spark every 100 hours.
COOLING SYSTEM - CARBURETTOR
• Regularly remove the grass from around the starter. Remove from
the ventilation grille and around the engine the grass that builds
up there. In this way you will be sure of the constant and efficient
cooling of your engine.
• The carburettor control linkage must be kept perfectly clean.
TRANSPORT
If the machine has to be raised or transported, turn off
the motor. Allow it to cool for at least 15 minutes before
loading the mower into a vehicle. Disconnect the spark plug
cover as a precaution.
Never transport the mower with petrol in the tank or with
the petrol tap open. The mower must be kept horizontal.
It is advisable to use a loading ramp or to have somebody help you
load and unload the mower.
QUICK HANDLE FOLDING (PICTURE 21)
To reduce the mower space requirement in order to make storage
easier, the handle has to be folded.
• Unlock the handle and straighten vertically to match the position of
the pin with the opening of the retaining link.
• Pull the retaining rod outwardly to disengage the pin.
• Fold the handlebar forward, accompanying its movement.
