SPEAKER CONNECTIONS

To attach speakers to the main unit, align the grooves of main unit with the grooves on the side

of the speaker box and slide the speaker box downwards. Push the speaker latch in the

direction indicated to lock the speaker in place and then insert the plug of the speaker wire into

the Speaker Jack (L&R).

WARNING: The speaker must be firmly plugged into the Speaker Jack before switching on the

power of main unit.

POWER SUPPLY

This unit is designed to operate from two different types of power sources;

• 

DC OPERATION

This setting operates on 8 - "D" type batteries. For best performance, always use heavy

duty alkaline batteries.

TO INSTALL BATTERIES

1.  Remove the cover on the Battery Compartment by gently pushing downward and

  outward. Insert 8 - "D" type batteries.

  BE SURE TO PLACE THE BATTERIES IN THE SAME POLARITY (+ or-)

  DIRECTION INDICATED ON THE ENGRAVED DIAGRAM INSIDE THE

  COMPARTMENT.

2.  Replace the cover.

  NOTE: Old batteries may swell and leak. To avoid damage to your device, remove the

  batteries when the unit is being stored for a long period of time or if the batteries have

  become exhausted.

  NOTE: To use DC power (battery) setting, you MUST first remove the AC cord from both

  the wall outlet and the back of the set.

AC OPERATION

Plug the AC power cord into the AC cord socket on the device first, and then plug the other

end of the cord into a standard household power outlet as shown.

TO PLAY THE RADIO

1.  Set the FUNCTION switch to the RADIO position and the POWER Indicator will light up.

2.  Select the desired band with the BAND switch.

3.  Tune to the desired station by rotating the TUNING control. Rotate the control back and

  forth until you find the strongest and clearest reception for a given station.

4.  The built-in AM antenna and external FM TELESCOPIC ANTENNA are directional.

When you are receiving an FM broadcast, fully extend the TELESCOPIC ANTENNA

      and rotate it for the best reception.

 

• 

For AM broadcast, rotate the whole unit for the best reception.

5.   Adjust the volume to a comfortable listening level.

6.  To turn off the radio, set the FUNCTION switch to the TAPE or CD/MP3 position
