Each LOCK input has two connection points, LCK+ and LCK-. These are accessible on
screw terminal J1, see fig. 3.1. and fig. 4.2.10.B.
In table 4.2.10 the pin assignment of J1 and J3 is shown. LOCK1+ for instance, means Motor
1 LOCK positive input.

The status of all LOCK inputs can be monitored on LED indicators on the front panel of
VME4ST amplifier.
If one LOCK input is activated, and the motor consequently disabled, VME4ST amplifier
will signal “Drive Fault” (see sect. 4.1.6) to MAC4-STP controller for this axis.
There are three possible modes of operation :
1.
Operation without using LOCK inputs
2.
Operation using LOCK inputs with external potential-free contact
3.
Operation using LOCK inputs with external current source
These three alternatives are described below.
4.2.10.1 Operation without using LOCK inputs
If the application does not require any interlock function, the user must insert jumpers on the
corresponding J3 jumper array positions. If both LOCK+ and LOCK- jumpers are installed,
the LOCK opto-isolator will be supplied with current, and the motor power drivers are
enabled. No connection to LOCK screw terminals on J1 shall be made.
4.2.10.2 LOCK operation using external contact
It is possible to stop (interlock) one (or more) motor(s) by short-circuiting the two LCK
terminals (LCK+ and LCK-) on screw terminal J1 with a potential-free contact. If this contact
is open, normal motor operation is possible. If the contact closes, no current will flow
through the opto-isolator and the motor(s) will be disabled.
In this mode, both LOCK+ and LOCK- jumpers must be installed.
