Port card installation
Adding or replacing port cards will require the system to be taken out of service (the ESI-50L doesn’t support
“hot-swapping” of its port cards).
Important:
The ESI-50L can use
only
the 482 port card (see “Port card options,” page A.1).
ALWAYS power down the system BEFORE adding or replacing any hardware.
Also, be sure to
observe all proper procedures regarding the prevention of electrostatic discharge (ESD) when performing the
following procedures; otherwise, circuit boards may suffer damage.
Whenever you change the port card configuration, you
must
create a
backup file
for the new configuration
to be able to perform the Restore function later.
1.
Remove the locking screw at the top of the Base Cabinet,
securing the cover, and remove the top cover by pressing
down the locking tab and pulling the top cover forward.
2.
Connect the first port card by inserting the ribbon cable
from
J1
on the port card to
J16
on the main board.
3.
Secure the port card with the five screws that came with the
port card to the standoffs that came with the Base Cabinet.
4.
If you’re installing a second port card, secure the
second port card to the Expansion Cabinet, using the
screws provided with the port card.
5.
Connect the second port card by inserting the ribbon cable
from
J1
on the port card to
J2
on the first port card
(located in the Base Cabinet).
6.
Attach the Expansion Cabinet to the Base Cabinet, and
secure with the locking screw at the top of the Base Cabinet.
7.
Secure the lid to the KSU and/or Expansion Cabinet.
8.
Reverse the steps to remove the port card.
Remember
to power down the system before replacing parts.
