Disassembly and Assembly

ESPON FX-880/FX-1180 Service Manual

Carriage Removal

1. Remove the printer mechanism (see page 3-17).

2. Remove the printhead FFC (see page 3-6).

3. Remove the platen (see page 3-15).

4. Remove the hexagon nut and washer securing the release lever to the CR guide shaft, then remove

the lever.

5. Remove the parallel adjustment bushing from the CR guide shaft.

6. Disengage the timing belt from the CR motor (see page 3-19).

7. Move the carriage to the far-right end of the CR guide shaft, and remove both the carriage and CR

guide shaft by lifting them from the front frame.

8. Release the timing belt from the 2 clips at the bottom of the carriage assembly.

CAUTION

After replacing the carriage, perform the platen gap adjustment (see Chapter 4).
