10.6.2 Blade Replacement - Fixed Blade
Replace the fixed blade as described in the following
steps. Refer to Figure 12, items 1, 2 and 3.
1. Be sure that the cutter piston is fully retracted. If not,
start the cutter and fully retract piston.
2. Disconnect cutter from AC power supply to prevent
accidental motor start-up during the following steps.
3. Place the cutter horizontally on a stable work surface.
4. Open the cutting head. Refer to Section 8.2 for
additional information.
5. Remove retaining rings (Figure 12, items 3 and 4).
Remove clevis pins (Figure 12, items 1 and 2) and
cutting head (Figure 12, items 5 - 10).
6. Remove seven socket head screws (Figure 12,
item 10).
7. Separate left side outer plate (Figure 12, item 6), inner
plate (Figure 12, item 8) and right side outer plate
(Figure 12, item 9).
8. Remove three fixed blade screws (Figure 12, item 5)
and remove fixed blade (Figure 12, item 7).

9. Install new fixed blade (Figure 12, item 7) onto left
side outer plate (Figure 12, item 6) with three fixed
blade screws (Figure 12, item 5) and torque to 37 ft-lb
[50 Nm]. Also apply Loctite 243 or equivalent.
10. Assemble the left side outer plate (Figure 12,
item 6), inner plate (Figure 12, item 8) and right side
outer plate (Figure 12, item 9) using seven socket
head screws (Figure 12, item 10). Torque to 37 ft-lb
[50 Nm]. Also apply Loctite 243 or equivalent.
11. Attach latch to cutting head using clevis pin
(Figure 12, item 2) and retaining ring (Figure 12,
item 4).
12. Attach cutting head (Figure 12, items 5-10) to
tool body using clevis pin (Figure 12, item 1) and
retaining ring (Figure 12, item 3).
13. Close the cutting head. Refer to Section 8.2 for
additional information.
14. Test for proper operation before placing the cutter
back into service.
