Flow limit
The diameter of the pipe and the flow rate determine the nominal diameter of the sensor.
The optimum flow velocity is between 2 to 3 m/s (6.56 to 9.84 ft/s). Also match the
velocity of flow (v) to the physical properties of the fluid:
• v < 2 m/s (6.56 ft/s): For abrasive media (e.g. cleaning agents)
• v > 2 m/s (6.56 ft/s): For media that produce buildup (e.g. liquids containing oil and
sugar)
A necessary increase in the flow velocity can be achieved by reducing the sensor
nominal diameter.
For an overview of the full scale values for the measuring range, see the "Measuring
range" section → 59
Pressure loss
• For DN 8 (5/16"), DN 15 (½") and DN 25 (1") no pressure loss occurs if the sensor is
installed in a pipe with the same nominal diameter.
• Pressure losses for configurations incorporating adapters according to DIN EN 545
