If this unit causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone company may discontinue service
temporarily or may request that you disconnect the equipment. The telephone company should advise
you of your right to file a complaint with the FCC.
The telephone company may make changes to its facilities, equipment, operations, or procedures that
could affect the operation of the equipment. If this happens, the telephone company will provide
advance notice so you can make the necessary modifications to maintain uninterrupted service.

Diagnostic monitoring
The Model 3711 provides three diagnostic inputs used to monitor input voltage, logical voltage, and
board temperature. These inputs are assigned to points as follows:
•
Logical voltage – E1
•
Input voltage – E2
•
Board temperature – E5
These data points can be used in several ways. For example:
•
You can read current values from the Analog Input window.
•
You can assign them as outputs.
•
You can define them as history points.
•
You can read them from FSTs or Modbus programs.
Input voltage must be at least 5.4 V; if voltage dips below this, the Model 3711 goes into low power
shutdown mode (see Section 15.6). Logical voltage should be around 3.4 V. Board temperature should
be close to ambient temperature.
15.6
Low power shutdown mode
If the battery voltage analog input after regulation goes to 5.4 V or less (equivalent to 6.5 V at the
input supply), the Model 3711 enters a low power shutdown mode. In this mode, all operations are
suspended, including communications, calculations, and control. Full operation is restored when the
input supply voltage exceeds the 6.5 V limit.
An event is logged when the Model 3711 enters low power shutdown mode, and also when the
Model 3711 exits low power shutdown mode.
15.7
MPU loading
The load on the Model 3711 Micro Processor Unit (MPU) is continually monitored. To view the
current value, click
Device > Information
and open the Other Information panel.
The MPU Loading value is displayed as a percentage. If the value regularly exceeds 50%, system
performance can be affected. Excess load may be caused by:
•
Auto Scan interval too short. See Section 3.5.
•
FST execution too fast. See Section 3.4.
