Emerson LAN LED Definition
The LAN connector shall have two integrated LEDs. A single green LED shall be OFF indicating LAN link
is not established, shall be ON indicating LAN link is established, and shall BLINK indicating LAN link
activity. A second dual-color green/yellow LED shall be OFF indicating 10 Mbps data rate: GREEN
indicates a 100 Mbps data rate, and YELLOW indicates a 1000 Mbps data rate. Figure 11 shows the
details.

Layout Consideration
The four differential pairs from GBE0_MDI0 (+ and -) to GBE0_MDI3 (+ and -) are required to meet a
specific waveform template and associated signal integrity requirements defined in the IEEE 802.3-
2005 specification. In order to meet these requirements, the routing rules in Section 21.3.5 LAN Trace
Routing Guidelines should be observed on the carrier board.
The four status signals driven by the COM Express module to the carrier board are low frequency
signals that do not have any signal integrity or trace routing requirements beyond generally accepted
design practices for such signals.
