EMC VNX5400 Hardware Information Guide
I/O modules
Figure 29 Data Mover management module serial console (DB-9) socket connector
lists the Data Mover management module Ethernet (DB-9) pin signals used on
the connector.
I/O modules
Several types of I/O modules are supported in the Block, File, and Unified VNX5400. The
SP supports five types of I/O modules (see
“Storage processor I/O module types” on
) and the Data Mover supports four types (see
“Data Mover I/O module types” on
). In this section, each I/O module description includes the type of port (copper or
optical) as well as a description of the LEDs.
Fibre Channel ports
The Block and File/Unified VNX5400 platform SP does not come with built-in optical Fibre
Channel (FC) ports on the rear of each SP (A and B). As a result, the 8-Gb/s Fibre Channel
(FC) I/O module or the 16-Gb/s Fibre Channel (FC) I/O module is used to provide these FC
ports (see
“Four-port 8-Gb/s FC I/O module” on page 47
, respectively). These ports provide an optical interface for
connecting to the front end.
