Sensor Inputs Configuration
For each digital, analog or SDI-12 sensor value connected to the ERTA2 unit configured to report in
the ALERT2 data frame, the user will need to configure the follow parameters.
Sensor ID:
Sensor ID value to be sent. ALERT2 standard does have some default sensor ID values
defined, so please refer to these as described in this manual. A value of 255 will disable the sensor
so that it does not generate update or change of state events to trigger messages to be sent over the
communications network.
Report Format:
Analog input sensor Report Format is used to set the value type that is sent. If the
application is ALERT2 flood warning, then chose ALERT2 default for stand river format. Or you can
choose custom type length values. Type/length allows the configuration of value type as unsigned,
signed or floating point. Length can then be set up for signed and unsigned values as 1, 2, 3 or 4
byte values. Floating point values are fixed as 4 byte length only.
Span/Range, Zero/Offset:
These two menu items work together to allow the setting of a custom
span and zero for the sensor to allow scaling of sensor value before it is sent over the
communications network.
Display Units:
Sensor value units that are displayed within the configuration menu internally.
Display Scaling:
Allows scale multiplier to be applied to the sensor value that is displayed within the
unit. This can be used in to scale to engineering units. This value is a float so will allow fractional
scaling.
Report Sensitivity:
Sensor value change before a change of state event is generated. This value is a
float, so fractional values are allowed.
When configuring sensor IDs it is recommended for application to use the standard ALERT2 set of IDs
which match to the sensor used in the application. Sensor IDs can be set to a value up to a
maximum of 255. In the ERT-A2 unit 255 is used to disable a sensor ID where it is not used so that
no data is transmitted.
Below is a listing of the standard ALERT2 IDs and recommended additional IDs for useful internal
diagnostics. Sensor IDs 0-8 are dictated by the ALERT2 protocol standard and for the ERT-A2 unit
sensor IDs 9-11 are recommended for useful diagnostic data.
It is important that these IDs are used for environmental applications to maintain compatibility with
other equipment and data recording requirements with users such as government agencies.
