3.7 Rear-I/O backplane support
CompactPCI Serial allows two different P6 connector options. The standard backplane provides
Ethernet functionality on the P6 connector, which is supported by the Ethernet link of the
JetKit-3010.
A second backplane option allows rear I/O signals from the board instead, which are received a
Rear Transition Module. In case the Xavier™ board is used in such a backplane, the board can
detect this and keep the Ethernet PHY in reset to keep the Ethernet lanes in high-impedance state.
See Table 33 in chapter 4 for information on how to configure the board for such a rear I/O
backplane.
3.8 Board interfaces
3.8.1 USB Type C connectors
The Board houses two USB type C connectors. The pinouts can be found in Table 12 and Table 13.

The USB-C 1 connector is used to flash the NVIDIA
® Xavier™. To do so, the board needs to be
started in recovery mode. See chapter 0 for details.
Even though the standard Linux OS does not implement the PD controller management, the
bootloader automatically sets the USB-C 1 port to device mode for programming support.
