6 Operation
6.1 AC Current Measurements
Press the
On / Off
button to turn on the instrument. Insert the instrument output leads to a high
precision universal digital multimeter set in the
AC voltage range
. Estimate the expected
current and set the
A area
of the instrument and
AC voltage
range on the multimeter to get the
best possible result.
Range:
30A gives 100mV / A
300 A gives 10mV / A
3000A gives 1mV / A
Note
Some multimeter like the
Elma 6100BT / 9200BT
have a function specifically designed
for current clamps, even here the area may need to be set.
Open the flexible coil by turning the turn knop place the coil around a single phase conductor and
close the coil completely again. The leader must be placed in the center of the flexible coil for the
most accurate result, read the current on the multimeter
7 Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning and storage
Periodically wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent; do not use abrasives or
solvents. If the meter is not to be used for 60 days or more, remove the battery and store it
separately.
7.2 Battery Replacement.
When the battery capacity is more than 2.5V, the power indicator light is green. When the battery
capacity is about less than 2.5V, the power indicator is
red
. Need to replace the battery in time.
Remove the Phillips head screw that secures the rear battery door.
Open the battery compartment.
Replace two AAA batteries.
Secure the battery compartment.
