If you experience problems with the heater, please
read through the Troubleshooting section below before
contacting customer service.

Make sure the heater has been plugged in and operating
for at least 24 hours.

If the aquarium water temperature is lower than required
(make sure you are checking the water temperature with
an accurate thermometer), proceed as follows:

l

Make sure that the heater is plugged in and

  is receiving power.

l

Make sure the heater is being used in an aquarium

that is within the suggested range as shown in the
Aquarium Heater Guide for its wattage.

l

Make sure the water circulation around the heater

  is adequate.

l

Make sure that the heater is properly submerged at

least to the minimum water line marked on the heater.

l

Using an aquarium hood or cover over the aquarium

will prevent excessive heat loss and help maintain
  the water temperature.

l

Make sure the heater is not covered with an excessive

amount of algae, calcium deposit, or lime scale.
Unplug the heater, allow it to cool for 30 minutes,

and clean it if necessary.

If the aquarium water temperature is higher than required
(make sure you are checking the water temperature with
an accurate thermometer), proceed as follows:

l

If the ambient (room) temperature exceeds 78°F

(such as during the summer), it is recommended to
  remove the heater.

l

Make sure the aquarium is filled to the proper level.

If the water volume in the aquarium is low so that it
no longer falls within the suggested range shown in
the Aquarium Heater Guide, add water immediately.

Troubleshooting

Caution: Make sure the heater is unplugged whenever
the aquarium is being serviced, including but not
