We’ve built many circuits using the dual operational
amplifier, but there are many other ways to use this
handy IC. The one shot multivibrator is one of them.
With this multivibrator, we can make the LED stay on
for a preset amount of time when the key is pressed
- a one shot light.
Slide the switch to position B and build the circuit.
Turn on the power by sliding the switch to position A.
The LED lights, but quickly turns off. Now, press the
key and see what happens. The LED lights and stays
on for 2 to 3 seconds and then turns off.
You can change the amount of time the LED is on by
using different values for C. Change the value of C
from 10
μ
F to 100
μ
F and see what happens to the
LED. It stays on much longer.
