What pi-desktop deb package do
After you installed the deb package and reboot the Raspberry Pi you will be able
to read the time directly from the RTC using the following command:
sudo hwclock –r
Within the debian package there is a systemd service set up called sync-hwclock.
This writes the latest time onto the RTC on boot and power off.
