“SMART B and AUTO”
MODEs of Operation (Recommended Setting under Insufficient Sunshine, Refer Fig. 1-6)
“eLEDing” SMART Light MODES (may remove back cover to access a Jumper (J2) as required)
“SMART A”
MODE of Operation (Recommended Factory Default Setting)
In SMART A mode with the jumper 2 (J2) Open/Off (Fig. 1-6), the light operates as a true Dusk to Dawn light. The unit senses its
surrounding ambient light level getting low and will turn ON in darkness, providing adjustable moonlight soft glow lighting all night
long. For the first 3 illuminating hours each night, this unit provides fixed dynamic lighting profile (70% to 30% of max brightness)
as eye compensation illumination regardless motion sensor to ensure having reasonable lighting level during the busiest hours in
the evening. The unit will slowly steps down its brightness as the ambient light level decreases during dusk time, provides a
smooth lighting for surrounding area. (Motion sensor is disable during the first 3-hours period of beginning the night) Once first 3
hours passed, the unit enters SMART dimming profile (as SMART B profile). In this profile, when motion been detected, the unit
will light up to maximum brightness within pre-set sensitivity range.
With good sunlight coverage seasons and locations,
SMART A is highly recommended mode for most outdoor & indoor lighting solution.
Rev. EE828WDC 07062018 Page 2
In SMART B mode to be selected the jumper2 (J2) Closed/On, the light will directly enter the dimming profile without 3 hours’
fixed lighting profile (unlike SMART A). The light operates as a SMART sensing light and it lights up to full brightness when
motion is detected in darkness condition and pre-selectable dim to a lower brightness as a “Moon Light” profile once motion
stopped. The dimmed brightness can be adjusted by turning the Right Dial (Ref. Fig. 2, page 1) from 5% to 50% of max
brightness (
do not turn to Min (0%) unless you wish to use Auto mode
). The motion Sensitivity/Range can be adjusted by
turning the Left Dial. The length of delay time will automatically extended if motion continually to be detected, and the light will
not dim until the motion stopped and the Delay Time has expired. This adjustment has a motion sensing range from Low 10’,
Med. 20’, High 45’.
SMART B is recommended for high latitude as insufficient sunshine locations at winter season.
When set Right Dial to minimum as 0% of max brightness in dim, the unit will convert a traditional AUTO Mode, as it will turn off
instead of dim down once Delay Time expired. Cautions: 1) avoid to set Sensitivity/Range too high in order to save battery
energy from false activations. 2) In AUTO Mode, If the IPM feature detects the battery has not enough stored energy caused by
very critical weather condition, it will automatically reduce the lighting level to half brightness in order to maintain a level of safe
lighting until it again receives enough sunlight to restore it back to normal status.
Set-up/Walk Test Procedure and Adjustments
1. To set up it for your applications, the unit comes with a
Set-up/Walk
Test mode as a AUTO mode only during this testing period to ensure
proper installation and optimize performance. To activate this mode, move the main switch from
OFF
to
ON
position.
This Set-up/ Walk Test
mode can be reactivated at anytime to adjust your settings for your application by turn the switch to
OFF
then ON
in any condition
day or night.
2. When the main switch is set initially to
ON
position for a period of 5 minutes, the Set-up/Walk Test mode/AUTO mode will be active, allowing
the user to adjust the light settings. This mode will work in both day and night time conditions. Sensitivity/Range can be adjusted at this time for
your application from 10' minimum to 45' maximum, also in conjunction adjust the dual light heads using the
Pan
and
Tilt
feature for your
application during this time.
3. The
Set-up/Walk
Test mode/AUTO mode is active once the unit is turn on, last for fixed
5 minutes
. Under this mode, the Red LED indicator
will flash through the motion detection lens, providing visual confirmation of motion detection responds. Once 5 minutes passed, the unit will
automatically convert to normal operation mode (SMART A or pre-selected) and will illuminate once it senses a change to darkness from
daylight ambient light conditions.
If installed during nighttime (no solar power), the unit will be set to Smart B mode, regardless its
current setting, and will restore to its current profile setting next evening (after one day-night cycle).
Note: The
Red LED indicator
light inside the ball head flashes for the following reasons: 1) To indicate motion activity during the 5 minutes
initial Set up/Walk Test. 2) To indicate the battery is low when the sensor detects motion during darkness.
Storage
: If this unit has been stored
over 12 months before initial operation then the battery may need to be re-charged. To re-charge the battery after storage turn the main switch
to OFF, plug the wire cord from the solar panel to the light and place it in direct sunlight for 1-2 days. Or make quickly charge for 2-3 hours by
using our exclusive
optional accessory AC-DC Digital/Switched Power Adapter (EE-DPS-0.8A).

User tips
SMART Mode
soft glow lighting can be adjusted by using the function
Dimming
dial, (
Right Dial).
This allows the user to select a dimming
level ranges from low to high,
When motion is detected the light will brighten up to the default fixed max level and then gradually dim
down to the soft glow lighting level set by the user.
Caution
-
The higher the minimum soft glow level is set, the more stored battery energy will be consumed. If the
IPM
detects that the battery
does not have enough capacity to support the lighting profile, it will automatically switch to
AUTO
profile to provide safety lighting until it
receives enough sunlight to operate the feature correctly.
In
Both
SMART Mode,
If your geographic location has outstanding daytime sunlight conditions all year (California, Nevada, Arizona, New
Mexico, Florida, Texas of USA e.g.) then you can increase the dimming level to take advantage of a brighter projection of
Moonlight
soft glow
Dusk-to-Dawn lighting.
The Sensitivity/Range adjustment
functions and setting are identically as described for the
SMART B
profile. For
most applications the recommending factory preset is
SMART A Mode
.
In both AUTO and SMART-ON profiles
if the
IPM
detects that the battery does not have enough capacity to run either profile in critical
weather conditions, it will automatically disable illuminating function leaving only the charger active to protect the battery from over discharge
causing damage. Once enough sunlight is received to charge the battery, the unit will go back to
AUTO
profile if set in
AUTO.
if set to
SMART-
ON
profile then it will first go into
AUTO
profile until it receives enough sunlight energy to operate
SMART-ON
profile properly.
Avoid placing objects
in front of the motion detector that may affect detecting performance. Avoid installing the unit near air conditioners, central heaters, or high
voltage systems. Avoid placing the motion detector head towards street traffic or other high movement areas which cause excessive triggers, resulting in shorter
battery reserve capacity. If this situation is unavoidable, decrease the sensitivity to achieve optimal balance. Motion detector is more sensitive to motions across the
device and less sensitive to motion moving towards or away from it. The solar panel should be mounted where maximum sunlight can be collected. Typically, the
solar panel should face south and avoid facing north (for Northern Hemisphere only, opposite way for Southern Hemisphere) with 35°- 80° tilt up direction (Refer to
Fig. 1-5) It’s fine facing to West or East where sunlight can directly charge the panel for at least 4 hours per day on average.
Use a soft wet cloth to periodically (at least once a year) clean the solar panel to avoid the reduction of energy output due to accumulated dust. Clean
accumulated snow as soon as possible during the snowing season.
