Optimizing Gain Structure for Minimum
Noise
For the best signal-to-noise ratio, the analog and
digital gain structure of the ISP-100 may be
adjusted for maximum performance. In general, this
means adjusting levels so that all input and output
converters are operating at levels high enough to
utilize their full dynamic range. The ISP-100
features provisions for manually programming the
analog output gain/attenuation stages, allowing the
user to tailor the gain structure of each frequency-
band output to make use of the full dynamic range
of the digital-to-analog converters.
The ISP-100 has analog gain/attenuation
adjustment capabilities at both the inputs prior to
the analog-to-digital converter and at the outputs
after the digital-to-analog converters. These analog
stages are set for unity gain as shipped from the
factory. The menu for adjusting these analog gain/
attenuation functions may be accessed while
running the Vue-It program by clicking on any of the
green input triangles. Although these analog gain/
attenuation settings are made from the Vue-It
program, they are not saved either as part of the
Projects or the QuickSets. (The ISP-100 will,
however, remember these analog settings when
