3 USING THE ELCOMETER 165

If using a heater pouch , insert 50ml Cartridge and hold the heater
“e” button for 3 seconds to switch on. The Elcometer 165 Heater
Pouch thermal controls are set to 50°C (122°F) - check your
coating specification accordingly.

Attach an abrasion ring & abrade using the
Elcometer 165 abrasion tool.

Remove abrasion ring and wipe clean using
the wipes provided.

Connect a nozzle to the cartridge and purge
both of excess air ensuring effective coating
mix.

Insert the nozzle into the centre of the
ElcoPatch™. Slowly inject the coating
using the manual coating dispenser until
the coating flows out of the four coating
overflow holes, ensuring there is no trapped
air inside the ElcoPatch™. Wipe away any
excess then move on to next repair site
allowing the coating to cure.

Different coatings will need different curing times
and environmental considerations please consult
your coating supplier for further details.

Recycle or dispose of the ElcoPatch™ in an
environmentally sensitive manner. Please
consult your local Environmental Authority for
further guidance.

The abrasion tool comes with replaceable hook
and loop abrasive pads. When the abrasive pad
wears out, replace it with a new one.

Attach an ElcoPatch™ by removing the
adhesive backing and sticking firmly to the
surface. Ensure the area abraded lines up
with the centre of the ElcoPatch™.

Identify the defect using a holiday detector
and mark up the area to be repaired.

Once the coating is fully cured according to
the manufacturer’s recommendations, use
the pull ring to remove the ElcoPatch™
from the substrate.
