Consumables
ATTENTION!
Unsuitable or unapproved consumables can damage the genset and shorten
its service life. Not following the manufacturer’s recommendation generally
lifts any liability on the manufacturer’s part.
¨
Use only consumables that meet the recommendations stated here.
¨
Do not put any unsuitable or dirty consumables into the genset.
¨
Dispose of dirty or used consumables in accordance with the locally valid
regulations. Also refer to the notes in the chapter
.
INFO
For reasons of transport safety, the genset is delivered dry, in other words
without engine oil and fuel. These consumables must therefore first be topped
up before the genset can be put into operation for the first time.
5.1
Engine oil
ATTENTION!
Always change the oil within the stated service intervals. These intervals have
been determined using high-grade fuels and apply only to operation using
fuels of comparable quality, see
“5.2.1 Petrol specification” on page 92
.
5.1.1 Oil specification
ATTENTION!
If possible, you should always use engine oils of the same type and from the
same manufacturer in order to avoid incompatibility.
¨
Never mix different brands of engine oil. If this is not observed, the result
can be greater wear or engine damage with no liability accepted by the
manufacturer.
¨
Do not use any more additives.
For optimum performance, we recommend using premium-quality 4-stroke engine oils that
conform to the API service classification SG, SF or higher. Selecting the suitable oil viscosity
(SAE class) depends on the usual average temperature in your environment. The diagram below
shows guideline values for the temperature-dependent use of recommended engine oils:

A
SAE 30
At below 4 °C (40 °F), using SAE 30 results in
starting difficulties.
B
10W-30
Increased oil consumption can occur at above
27 °C (80 °F); the oil level must therefore be
checked more frequently.
C
5W-30
Suitable for use in cold conditions (to -35 °C).
