To compare with the Mk10, Main is Phase A, Load is Phase B, and Neutral current is
Phase C – this may help in understanding the layout of some screens in EziView. While
Total in the Mk10 is the sum of all three phases, Total in the Mk7 is the sum of the Main
and Load elements only.

RS-232

The RS-232 port on the meter uses an RJ45 connector, which complies with the RS-
232D standard. To connect to a modem, use an RJ45 to DB9 connector adapter.

Meters fitted with a passive serial port derive power from the signal lines of the modem.
Thus the port cannot power an external modem. See Table 4-4 for connection details.
Pin 1 of the RJ45 is furthest from the battery connector (i.e. on the right hand side).

* TB4-1 is connected to a +15V power source from the meter, which is designed to
power an external GSM modem. Other options are also available, contact EDMI for
more details. It may vary up to 20V with loading.

See Figure 4-5 and Figure 4-6 for the location of the RJ45 connector. It is designated as
TB4.

RX2 and TX2 are only present if the port is a dual RS232 port. The Dual Port option
supplies two serial ports on the one connector.

RS-485

There is no RS485 option at present.

FLAG Port

The meter can have either a Flag Port or an ANSI Port. Use a standard FLAG (IEC1107
physical standard) read head to connect the meter to a PC.

Note that it has occasionally been found that some FLAG heads need to be rotated 180
degrees for them to work. If you have problems try this.
