4.8.1 Safety loop

For reasons of redundancy of the monitoring system, precautionary measures, in addition to the monitoring
functions of the controller, have been taken to disable all or individual compressors of a pack under critical
operating conditions. The switching contacts used for this due to the type of wiring of the system are prioritised
below in descending order:

Disable all compressors

Safety high-pressure cutout
HP cutout
If available: Discharge gas defrost HP cutout (Z2, Z2R and Z1)
LP-cutout

Disable relevant compressors

Compressor oil differential switch, compressor HP monitor or connection in series of compressor oil/HP
monitor
Compressor motor overload cutout

Due to this arrangement, when a high priority safety contact (e.g. HP cutout) is tripped, all lower priority alarm
contacts are deenergised and thus active. The sending of low priority alarm signals at the same time when a
higher priority alarm event occurs is locked so that all secondary alarms are not sent by the pack controller in
this case.

4.8.1.1 Monitoring of low oil pressure switch / compressor high-pressure cutout

The oil differential pressure, the high-pressure at the pressure ports of every compressor, or both, can be
monitored via digital inputs with floating contacts.
The contact is open in the alarm state. If the pressure switch trips, the compressor is switched off immediately
and disabled for the following control processes. If it is reset, the compressor is enabled. The monitoring of the
oil pressure and/or high-pressure monitor can be activated separately for Z1 and Z2 compressors.
