Operation 

 

5.1  Startup and Normal Operations 

 
Power on the UPS with mains supply: 

 

1. 

Make sure the UPS’s power cord is plugged in. 

2. 

The UPS display lights up and shows the Eaton logo. 

3. 

Confirm that 

 is displayed in the UPS status bar. 

4. 

Press the 

 key on the front panel of the UPS and hold for at least 2 seconds. 

The UPS status on the display will change to "Powering on UPS..."

 

5. 

Check for any alarms or notifications on the UPS display. 

If the 

 indicator lights up, resolve the active alarms before proceeding.

Restart the UPS as needed after the alarms are addressed.

 

6. 

Confirm that the 

indicator lights up, which means that the UPS is now running normally and 

protecting all loads. 

The UPS shall be in Online mode.

 

 
 

5.2  Power on UPS with Battery 

 
Make sure the UPS was powered on with the mains supply at least once before using this function.

 

The Power on with Battery function can be disabled. For more information, please refer to "Power on with 
Battery" in "On/Off Settings" on Page 14.

 

 
Power on with Battery:

 

1. 

Press the 

 key on the front panel of the UPS until the UPS display lights up and shows the 

"Powering up UPS..." status. 

The UPS will switch from Standby mode to Battery mode. The 

 indicator will light up. 

The UPS will power your equipment. 

2. 

Check the UPS display for any other alarms or notifications in addition to "Battery Mode" and mains 
supply interruption. Resolve any active alarms before proceeding. Please refer to “Troubleshooting” on 
Page

Restart the UPS as needed after the alarms are addressed. 

 
 

5.3  Power off UPS 

 
Power off the UPS: 

 

1. 

Press the 

 key on the front panel of the UPS and hold for 3 seconds. 

A confirmation dialog will appear on the panel. 
Once confirmed, the UPS will beep and display the "Powering off UPS..." status. The UPS will then 
switch to Standby mode and the 

indicator will go off. 

 
 

5.4  Operating modes 

 
For a description of the indicator statuses on the Eaton 9PX front panel, please refer to Page 11.

 

 

Online Mode

 

 
In Online mode, the 

 indicator will light up and the UPS will be powered by the mains power grid.

 

The UPS will monitor the battery and charge it as needed, while providing filter protection for your equipment.
