REPLACING THE PRINT HEAD ACTUATOR

Compact 32d, 32c and 53c

Notes: (1)

The print head actuator is supplied without the print head and
print head adaptor board.

(2)

Tools required: Flat-head screwdriver, Threadlocker (medium
strength), 2.5mm and 3mm Allen keys, TX20 Torx driver, 5.5mm
nut spinner, long-nosed pliers.

To change the print head actuator:

(1) Remove the bridge cover.

(2) Remove the print head.

(3) Remove the four screws that retain the two mounting blocks.

(4) Remove the mounting blocks.

(5) Remove the five screws that retain the linear slide.

(6) Remove the rear cover from the machine area.

(7) Loosen the three screws that hold the capstan stepper motor to the

back of the printer.

(8) Pull the actuator assembly out.

CAUTION:

Do not remove the linear slide from the rest of the
assembly - doing so renders the assembly
unserviceable.

(9) Mount the new actuator.

(10) Align small stepper motor gears - see
