To Prevent Accidents
To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, or injury when using your air conditioner,
follow these basic precautions:
•
Be sure the location for the air conditioner meets the electrical requirements for the model
you have chosen. This information can be found on the serial plate, which is located on the
side of the cabinet and behind the grill.
•
If the window is a triple-track type with a screen panel included, remove the screen
completely before installation.
•
Be sure the air conditioner has been securely and correctly installed according to the
installation instructions in this manual. Save this manual for possible future use in removing
or installing this unit.
•
When handling the air conditioner, be careful to avoid cuts from the sharp metal
on the front and rear coils.
•
Do not operate with wet hands or in a damp environment. This may cause electrical shock.
•
Unplug the unit if strange sounds, smells or smoke comes out of it. It may cause fire and
electrical shock.
•
Do not open the unit during operation. It may cause electrical shock.
•
Do not use the power cord close to heating appliances. It may cause fire and electrical shock.
•
Do not use the power cord near combustible materials, gasoline, or other flammable vapors
or liquids. It may cause an explosion or fire.
•
Ventilate the room before operating the air conditioner if there is a gas leak from another
appliance. It may cause an explosion, fire, and/or burns.
•
Do not disassemble or modify the unit. It may cause unit failure or electrical shock.
•
When removing air filter, do not touch the metal parts of the unit. This may cause injury.
•
Do not expose a pet or house plants to direct airflow. This could injure the pet or plant.
•
Ventilate the room well when used together with a stove, etc.
•
Do not clean the unit with water, which might enter the unit and ruin the insulation or cause
an electrical shock.
•
If water enters the unit, turn the unit off at the power outlet and turn off the circuit breaker.
Pull the plug and contact a qualified service technician.
•
Stop operation and close the window in hurricanes or other violent weather conditions.
