Caution
should always be made when nailing, cutting or drilling in walls,
floors and ceiling that may contain these items. To avoid electrical, plumbing,
etc, remember that studs or joists are normally spaced 406mm or 610mm apart
and are 38mm in width. Anything closer together of a different width may not be
a stud, joist or rebar.
(1)Power on
Press
the switch button and hold it to switch on the tool.
Release
the switch button will turn off the tool.
It is suggested to place the tool against the detecting surface before switch on the
tool. Because when the tool is switched on, it will proceeds a self-calibration
procedure and get ready for operation.
(2)Calibration
When the unit is powered on, it will do the calibration procedure as follows:
Press the switch button and hold it, the green LED lights up. Hold the unit in
still position flat against the testing surface until a beep sounds that indicates a
good calibration. This process takes about several seconds.
After calibration the green LED remains lighting up.
(3) Scanning
After calibration has finished, slowly slide the unit across wall in a
horizontal
direction
. Make sure not to tilt or lift the tool.
When
the lower red LED
starts to light up, slow down and slide the tool further
until
top red LED
lights up and the tool beeps.
Mark this spot to indicate stud edge. Continue scanning beyond the marked spot
until all the red LEDs go out.
Then slide the unit in reverse direction to locate the other edge of stud in the
same manner. Mark this second spot. Center of stud is the middle between the
two marks.
After calibration has finished, slowly
slide the unit across wall in a
horizontal direction
. Make sure not
to tilt or lift the tool.
As you begin to approach a stud, the yellow LED & red LED will lights up, and
peck at the stud edge. Mark this spot to indicate stud edge.
