them. If they are dirty, wipe them carefully with a clean cloth.

Cleaning the Gate

The gate which guides the film as it passes the lens, must be cleaned

occasionally. It should be cleaned at intervals depending upon its use.

Because of the constant friction of the film, particles of the coating or

emulsion are rubbed off the edges of the film and lodge on the gate.

This deposit of emulsion, if allowed to remain, interferes with the

smoothness with which the film runs through the gate.
