Electrostatic Discharge
Overview
ESD, electrostatic discharge, can damage sensitive electronic parts and assemblies. You cannot
detect a static charge of 3,500 Volts, but a static charge of only 30 Volts can damage some electronic
components.
Preventive Procedures
• Check for ESD warnings on all static sensitive components, such as CIRCUIT BOARDS, before
doing any procedures.
• Use a GROUNDING STRAP when handling static sensitive components.
