S-METER CAL:
The S-METER calibration of the ILER-DDS allows to “SAVE” the level of signal strength for each one 10
intervals from S-0 to S-9. In addition, the settings are independent for each level, so that it can be literally
adapted to any S-Meter voltage source of any receiver and can be directly proportional (the voltage
increases if the strength of the reception signal increases) or inversely proportional (the voltage
decreases when the reception signal increases).
To make these adjustments, you must have another good quality receiver with a reliable "S-
METER" meter as a reference or a professional RF generator.
When the "S-METER CAL" screen appears, make a short press. The
"DIRECT S-METER" screen will appear and by turning the encoder you will
go to the "REVERSED S-METER" and "EXIT" screens.
The configuration of the S-Meter allows two measurement modes: direct
and inverse. In
"DIRECT"
mode the level of the S-Meter increases
proportionally when the input voltage increases and in
"REVERSED"
mode
it happens the other way round, the level of the S-Meter increases when the
input voltage decreases.
This allows adapting the S-Meter of the ILER-DDS to the CAG circuit of any
receiver.
You must adapt the S-meter measurements to the voltage levels of your receiver. Choose the "DIRECT
S-METER" or "REVERSED S-METER" screen, press the button and the "S-
0" screen will appear on the screen and on the second line the voltage level
in mV that is currently entering the terminal 10 (RA5 / AN4) of the ILER-
DDS. To save that level, press the encoder again and the "S-0 SAVED"
screen will appear indicating that the current voltage level has been saved
as the reference level for S-0. Then screen S-1 will appear and it will
continue proceeding until completing level S-9 (level S-9 + is not programmed, the internal program of
the microcontroller calculates it automatically).
IMPORTANT: The input voltage range for the S-Meter must be between 0 and 4.9V
The following table shows the relationship between the theoretical signal levels in the antenna and the
corresponding "S" levels. Each level "S" represents a difference of 6dBm, that is to say double or half.
