5.4.2 Battery Break-In
When the batteries are new, make sure to charge the battery pack before its first
use. Limit the use of new batteries for first five cycles. New batteries are not capable of
their rated output until they have been discharged a number of times. It takes 90-120
cycles to fully maximize range.
5.4.3 Charge Cycling
Do not excessively discharge batteries. Excessive discharge can cause polarity
reversal of individual cells resulting in complete failure shortly thereafter. Limited use of
new batteries will also minimize the chance of cell reversal. Charge the batteries to their
full state every two months whether you have used them or not to ensure they will not
fully discharge. The batteries require 90-120 charge cycles before they can reach the full
capacity.
