If acceptable performance is observed, the setscrew (figure 1, item 2) may be
re-installed.
If the valve closes too quickly, proceed to Step 4.
If the force required to close the valve is too high, go to Step 5.
4. To increase the retarding force of the Slo-Cloz, rotate the adjustment plug (figure
1, item 4) clockwise one dot. DO NOT turn the hex plug (item 3) in the
adjustment plug. DO NOT turn adjustment plug past the ‘X’ mark or permanent
damage to the Slo-Cloz may result: Repeat Step 3.
5. To decrease the retarding force of the Slo-Cloz, rotate the adjustment plug (item
4) counterclockwise 1 dot. DO NOT turn the hex plug (item 3) in the adjustment
plug. DO NOT turn plug past the ‘X’ mark. Retarding force is minimum at 6
th
dot.
Repeat Step 3.

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove the hex plug (figure 1, item 3) located on the adjustment plug (figure 1,
item 4) with a 5/16” wrench.
2. Insert a 1/4” – 28 Zerk grease fitting.
3. Loosen setscrew (figure 1, item 2) and open adjustment plug (figure 1, item 4) 1/2
turn counterclockwise. Remove the bleed screw (figure 1, item 1) located in the
top of the Slo-Cloz mechanism with a .050” Allen wrench.
4. Fill with Dow Corning #111 silicone lubricant until the grease exits bleed hole. Do
not substitute other materials or unit may not operate properly.
5. Replace bleed screw (item 1).
6. Remove Zerk grease fitting and install hex plug (item 3).
7. Reset adjustment plug to original position.
8. Check Slo-Cloz for proper adjustment. (see adjustment instructions)
9. Tighten setscrew.
