The electronic kitchen scales must be operated as follows:
1. Switch on the scales with the glass weighing plate assembled by pressing the ON-/OFF and taring button (3)
once – the device will perform a self-test and for a short time, all characters will be displayed on the LCD-
display.
2. After switching on and after the measurement unit is set, wait until automatic zero adjustment has
completed. Now the display will show
and is ready to use. After this, place an item to be weighed onto
the glass weighing surface so as not to touch any furniture, wall surface or any other item as this will affect
the weighing result. Wait until the display shows
again. The weight can now be read from the LCD
display in the measuring units previously set.
When using the device, remember that kitchen scales were designed for precise
weighing of small items, and must not be overloaded; try to estimate the weight
of the article to prevent overloading. For larger weights, try to divide the load into
smaller units before weighing. Kitchen scales can measure up to 5kg. Overloading can
cause irrepairable damage which qualifies as heavy handling.
The item to be weighed must be placed in the middle of the scale. Avoid asymetric
loading.
If the error message “EEEE” appears on the LCD display, this means that an excessively
heavy object was placed onto the weighing plate and the scales are overloaded – in
such cases, the glass weighing surface must immediately be unloaded.
In cases when “OUTZ” or “UNST” are displayed, switch the device off and place it onto a
stable even surface. Do not put anything onto the weighing surface before switching
the scales on.
1. If the object to be weighed cannot be put directly onto the glass weighing surface, use a very light vessel.
This way you can weigh liquids. When using an auxiliary vessel, its own weight must also be allowed for.
The vessel should be weighed separately and the result deducted from the weight measurement to obtain
an accurate value, as the device can make measurements with taring. For weighing with taring, wait after
switching on until automatic zero adjustment, weigh the auxiliary vessel and wait until its weight appears on
the display and the mark
is shown. Then press ON-/OFF and taring push-button (3) again – the former
displayed value will be deleted and the device will return to zero, i.e. the previously measured weight of the
auxilliary vessel will be excluded and the weight of the article or liquid it contains can be directly read. When
using the taring function, the mark
will appear on the display.
2. Important! When weighing with taring, you must respect the maximum total load bearing capacity of 5kg
when loading the weighing plate.
3. The device can also be used as a zero indicator because the LCD-screen can display negative values e.g. if you
want to weigh identical weights during a series of measurements or the difference from a reference gauge
(excess or deficit of weight). This can be done by using taring measurement. In such cases taring must be
4. After replacing the battery, replace the cover on the battery holder box. After inserting new batteries, the
kitchen scales are ready to use.
Important safety information
Please always replace all the batteries at the same time and by the same type.
Never dispose of the replaced batteries in the household waste, because they will
endanger the environment! Please use a dedicated waste container provided for this
purpose or a collecting station for disposing of used batteries!
Never throw the batteries in the fire, because they can explode.
USING OF APPLIANCE
Before use
1. Unpack the appliance and remove all the packing materials.
2. Inspect the appliance and the accessories carefully to verify their soundness and undamaged condition. Only
perfectly sound and damage-free appliances may be connected to the electrical mains.
3. Before use, place the kitchen scales on a horizontal, flat area of a table or workplate. Do not leave anything
under the scales which might cause the support legs to topple or be unevenly balanced, or block the
bottom plate of the scales (e.g. napkin), as this can affect weighing accuracy. Ensure there is enough space
around the scales covers to prevent contact with walls, furniture or any other object that can cause false
measurements.
4. When unpacking the product, the glass weighing plate will not be on the device. This needs to be set up
before the first use – the device is unable to weigh otherwise. To assemble, insert the threaded spindle on
the bottom of the plate into the threaded socket on the device, then turn it carefully clockwise until it is
fully tightened. When tightening the plate thread, take care to apply the minimum force required and avoid
overtighting but do not leave it loose. Overtightening can damage or break the thread. Cross-threading can
cause damage to both threaded spindle and socket; take particular care to avoid this happening.
5. Finally, after mounting the weighing plate, insert two batteries into the device, as described in the
subchapter “Battery Replacement”.
Use and operational modes of kitchen scales
The device can display the weight of objects on the weighing plate – up to a maximum of 5kg (in Imperial units
up to 11lbs.) - in four measuring units on the LCD display:
• in grams (gs) • kilograms (kgs)
• in ounces (ozs) • pounds (lbs)
The measuring unit required can be set by the measuring unit selection button (4).
