Features

Overview

These terrestrial set top boxes feature composite and HDMI outputs for HD 

televisions or connection to a PC monitor or projector. The A 2856A model runs 

off a 240V mains voltage power cable. The A 2809A model is powered by a 12V 

DC Plugpack (included) and is great for caravans, RVs and vehicles as its also 

incredibly compact, under 12cm wide! USB connection allows recording direct 

to a USB stick, plus playback of photo slideshows. This allows you to mount the 

set top box inside a cabinet or behind the TV itself.

1. Inital Set up

First installation shall setup some important 

configurations. It contains several options 

like Language, Country (area), Timezone, 

Active Antenna, LCN. This is shown in the 

figure on the right.

2. Electronic Program Guide (EPG)

You can press the [EPG] button on the 

remote controller to enter into the EPG 

page to know more about the programs to 

be played. As shown in the figure to the 

right there are several modes; Now/Next 

Mode, Daily Mode, Weekly Mode. The 

default mode is Now/Next. Press the red 

button to switch modes. Press [EXIT] or 

[EPG] buttons to quit the EPG Menu.

There are 7 parts 
• Label 1: Current EPG status 
• Label 2: Current time and program information 
• Label 3: Detail date list 
• Label 4: Channel List. By pressing the [UP/DOWN] button you can switch through the 

different channels. By pressing [PAGE -/+] button you can switch pages
• Label 5: Current Play program information (Now Event), Pressing the [UP/DOWN] 

button will switch between NOW and NEXT status
• Label 6: Program Information of next time slot (Next Event)  
• Label 7: Button Hint information 
                 - Red Button: Enter into daily mode 
                 - Green button: Record label 5 program of bookmark label 6 program.

Press the  [INFO] button to show more detailed information

3. Subtitles

Subtitles are to off by default. To set 

subtitles press the [SUB-T] button to enter 

into the subtitle menu. Shown in the figure 

to the right. To select the preferred 

language press the [UP/DOWN] button.

Main Menu Introduction

1.1 Auto Search

Auto search allows you to automatically 

select a TV/radio programme dependant on 

your locations frequency. The system will 

search through the programs and save 

them automatically.

1.2 Manual Search

Manual search allows you to search for 

programs by their frequency.
1. Select manual search in the installation 

menu screen shown in the top right image. 

2. There are 3 configurations;
- (1) Channel number: Each channel number 

corresponds to a specific frequency. 

Country location may make the channel 

numbers differ so you can input the 

numbers directly.
- (2) Frequency (KHz) The default frequency 

is 177143KHz.
- (3) Bandwidth: Select bandwidth between 

6MHz, 7MHz and 8MHz. The default is 

7MHz.
3. Press the [start Search] button the begin 

the search
4. When your search has finished the
system will save program and go back to 

installation menu.

1.3 Channel Filter

Press the [UP/DOWN] button to switch to a 

different item. The press the [ENTER] 

button to select it. Channel filter only has 

two options; All channels or FTA only (Free 

to Air).

1.4 Country

The [Country] option on the installation menu can be used to select the country.

1.5 Logic Channel Number (LCN)

The [LCN] option on the installation menu is used to set the logic channel number to 

open or closed.

1.6 Active Antenna

The [Active Antenna] option on the installation menu is used to set the active antenna 

to On/Off. The system will shut down power when it is set to on and the antenna 

shorts out.

2. Channel Menu

The Channel menu takes you to channel 

manager and favourite list. The channel 

manager is where you will find the system 

functions. Favourite list is where you can 

save programs into different lists.

2.1 Channel Manager

The channel manager menu includes the 

following functions; program delete, 

program skip, program lock and rename. 

The system will remind you “no program” 

when no program has been selected.
- (1) Delete Program: Press the [UP/DOWN] 

button to select program, the press the 

green button and input the default 

password. System will delete it when you 

quit channel manager menu.
- (2) Modify Program Number: Press the 

[UP/DOWN] button and [ENTER] button to 

select it. The press [UP/DOWN]
to move current program to the desired 

position and press the [ENTER] button 

again to save modification.
- (3) Rename Program: Press the 

[UP/DOWN] button to select the program 

and then press the blue button which then 

take you to the modification menu shown 

on the right. Press the [ENTER] button to 

save the modification.
- (4) Lock Program: Select the program and 

press the red button. Once you enter the 

default password 0000 the program will be 

locked.
To quit the channel manager menu simply 

press the [RECALL] button. To get back to 

the program play menu press the [EXIT] 

button.

2.2 Favourite List

There are 4 favourite lists. Pressing the four 

colour buttons can switch between the 

different lists. Press the [OK] button to add 

a program into the favourite list. One 

program can be added into the different 

lists. Press the [EXIT] button to quit the 

favourite list menu.
