The 697 i s a sewi ng head whi ch can be used f or sewi ng light to medi um heavy
sewing m ate rial . I n general , such sewi ng ma te rial is m ade up of te xtil e fi bres
but al so leat her. Su ch sewing m ate rial s are used by the cl othi ng and uphol stery
indust ry . I t woul d also be possibl e to ma ke so cal led t echni cal seam s with these
sewing ma chines. However , f or t his appl ic ation t he operator of the m achi ne(s)
mu st have the possi ble dangers assessed (cooperation wi th Dürkopp Ad le r
would be welc omed), as such applic atio ns are, on the one hand, rel ati vely rare
and, on t he other hand, have an i mm ensely wide range of possi bili ties.
Depending on the results of th is assessm ent sui tabl e safe ty m easures m ight
have to be im plem ented.

mu st not exceed 12 m m i n t hickness when comp ressed by t he lo wered needle
butt. The m ate rial m ust not cont ain any hard obj ects as eye shie ld s woul d
otherwi se have to be worn when operating t he ma chine. However, such eye
shie ld s are current ly not avai labl e.
In general, the seam wi ll be sewn wi th sewing t hreads m ade of t ext ile fibres i n
sizes of up to 60/ 3 NeB (cotton th reads), 65/ 2 Nm (synthet ic th read), or 65/ 2 Nm
(covering tw is ts ). Usi ng other t hreads woul d also requi re an assessment of t he
rela ted possibl e dangers and ri sks in advance, and the im plem entati on, where
necessary, of suitabl e safe ty m easures.
Th is sewi ng m achi ne ma y only be put up and used in dry and cl ean rooms.
Shoul d the ma chine be used in other room s whic h are not dry and clean, fu rther
measures m ay have to be t aken whi ch have to be agreed
(see E N 60204-31: 1999).
As a m anufact urer of in dustri al sewi ng m achi nes we assum e t hat operat ors who
are at least semi-ski lled wi ll work at our product s, so that it can be assum ed that
all standard operations and, where appl ic able, the dangers are known.

Description of proper use or proper application:
The 697 is a sewing head which can be used for sewing light to medium heavy
sewing material. In general, such sewing material is made up of textile fibres
but also leather. Such sewing materials are used by the clothing and upholstery
industry. It would also be possible to make so called technical seams with these
sewing machines. However, for this application the operator of the machine(s)
must have the possible dangers assessed (cooperation with Dürkopp Adler
would be welcomed), as such applications are, on the one hand, relatively rare
and, on the other hand, have an immensely wide range of possibilities.
Depending on the results of this assessment suitable safety measures might
have to be implemented.
In general, only dry sewing material may be used on this machine. The material
must not exceed 12 mm in thickness when compressed by the lowered needle
butt. The material must not contain any hard objects as eye shields would
otherwise have to be worn when operating the machine. However, such eye
shields are currently not available.
In general, the seam will be sewn with sewing threads made of textile fibres in
sizes of up to 60/3 NeB (cotton threads), 65/2 Nm (synthetic thread), or 65/2 Nm
(covering twists). Using other threads would also require an assessment of the
related possible dangers and risks in advance, and the implementation, where
necessary, of suitable safety measures.
This sewing machine may only be put up and used in dry and clean rooms.
Should the machine be used in other rooms which are not dry and clean, further
measures may have to be taken which have to be agreed
(see EN 60204-31: 1999).
As a manufacturer of industrial sewing machines we assume that operators who
are at least semi-skilled will work at our products, so that it can be assumed that
all standard operations and, where applicable, the dangers are known.
