Procedure:

Unplug the DreamBox from its power.

Connect a Null Modem Cable between the PC and the
DreamBox. A plain serial cable WILL NOT work!

Start the ‘dreamUp-DM500’ program on your PC and you
will see the following screen:

Uncheck the ‘Use Network’ box.

Click ‘Connect’.

When it says to ‘switch on the dreambox’ please plug in
the DreamBox.

Eventually you will see this screen:
