CE marking and ATEX marking
Regard cards and modules are CE marked to indicate conformity with the essential
requirements of the “ATEX” Directive 94/9/EC:
0518
The number after the CE mark is the number of the Notified Body involved the production
control phase.
The card also carries the following marking in accordance with the directive:
This marking means that the card is suitable for use in non-hazardous areas, in non-
mining Category 2 applications for the detection of flammable gases.
THIS MARKING DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE CARD IS “EXPLOSION PROOF”.
Regard cards cannot be used in areas subject to explosion hazards (“hazardous
areas”) without suitable additional protection.
The certification code corresponds with the ATEX EC-type-examination certificate:
DMT 02 ATEX G 002 X
The year of construction of the card can be derived from the card's serial number.
Special conditions for safe use
The following special properties have to be considered at operation of the control unit:
•
Card faults are signalled by blinking of the green power-LED and not by the yellow
fault-LED.
•
When operated with remote sensors, where the output current can be below 20 mA
for concentrations above full scale, the parameter "FSD LOCK" shall be set to YES.
•
When operated with remote sensors with 4-20 mA interface the specifications of the
4-20 mA interface and the behaviour below 4 mA and above 20 mA have to be
considered.
•
The gas alarm relay with the highest set point shall be configured latching or delay-
latching for the measurement of flammable gases.
•
Vibration can cause malfunction of alarm and fault contacts. Do not expose to
vibrations with frequencies above 55 Hz or amplitudes above 0.15 mm.
