Safety-related information

Before using this product, carefully read the instructions for use.

Strictly follow the Instructions for Use. The user must fully understand
and strictly observe the instructions. Use the product only for the
purposes specified in the Intended Use section of this document.

Do not dispose of the Instructions for Use. Ensure that they are
retained and appropriately used by the product user.

Only fully trained and competent users are permitted to use this
product.

Comply with all local and national rules and regulations associated
with this product.

Use only genuine Dräger spare parts and accessories, or the proper
functioning of the product may be impaired.

Do not use a faulty or incomplete product, and do not modify the
product.

Notify Dräger in the event of any component fault or failure.

This device has been tested and complies with the FCC (Federal
Communications Commission) Rules. Changes or modifications not
expressly approved by the manufacturer will void your authority to
operate this product.

2.1

Definitions of alert icons

Alert icons are used in this document to provide and highlight text that
requires a greater awareness by the user. A definition of the meaning of
each icon is as follows:

Description

3.1

Product overview

Dräger PC Link is used to read and reprogram compatible Dräger
products. The box contains (Fig A):

A PC Link Module (1)

PC Link application installation media

A USB cable (type-B connector to type-A connector) (2)

A mounting bracket (3)

Four mounting screws (4)

Ten personal identification (ID) cards (5)

Documentation (6), including:

A declaration of conformity

Device disposal instructions

These instructions

The PC Link Module is a radio frequency (RF) communication device that
can wirelessly transmit and receive information from compatible Dräger
products. The PC Link application is a Microsoft

®

 Windows

®

-compatible

application that, when installed on to an appropriate computer, provides
the following functionality:

Reading and reprogramming of settings and parameters, including
configuration, firmware, and identification details.

Downloading of data log information.

Personal ID cards are used with Bodyguard

®

 7000  or  Sentinel 7000

products to quickly transfer user details saved on the card to the user
interface. See the product instructions for use for more details.

3.2

Intended use

PC Link is intended to be used with the following Dräger products:

Use

4.1

Prerequisites

PC Link requires a computer running a Microsoft

®

 Windows

®

 desktop

operating system (Windows

®

 7 or later) with a USB type-A connector.

4.2

Preparation for use

4.2.1

Fitting the mounting bracket

1. Secure the mounting bracket to an appropriate location using the

supplied screws.

2. Align and fit the PC Link Module to the mounting bracket. Rotate the

PC Link Module clockwise to secure it to the mounting bracket.

4.2.2

Installing the PC 

Link application and connecting the

PC Link Module

1. Insert the PC Link application installation media into the computer.
2. Launch the PC Link application installer.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions. When prompted, connect the

PC Link Module to the computer as follows:
a. Connect the type-B connector of the supplied USB cable to the

PC Link Module.

b. Connect the type-A connector of the supplied USB cable to the

computer.

4.3

Connecting the Dräger product

4.3.1

Bodyguard

®

 7000 or Sentinel 7000

1. Ensure that PC Link Module is connected to the computer, then launch

the PC Link application.

2. Ensure that the device is switched on, then place it on to the

PC Link Module (Fig B).

3. Select the green connect button in the PC Link application. On

connection:

The link icon ( ) will display on the device screen.

The product screen will be displayed in the PC Link application.

4.3.2

Bodyguard

®

 1000/1500, 

Sentinel 1500, 

TX Gauge 

or

TX H Gauge

1. Ensure that PC Link Module is connected to the computer, then launch

the PC Link application.

2. Switch off the device.
3. Press and hold:

Bodyguard

®

 1000/1500 or Sentinel 1500:

 The left button ( )

until the green (active) LED illuminates continuously.

TX Gauge:

 The gauge illumination button ( ) until the green

(active) LED illuminates continuously.

TX H Gauge:

 The gauge illumination button ( ) for a minimum of

4 seconds

4. Immediately place the device face down on to the

PC Link Module (Fig C, Fig D or Fig E), then release the button.

5. Select the green connect button in the PC Link application. On

connection:

The green and amber LEDs on the unit will flash at one second
intervals to indicate that the device is in communication mode.

The product screen will be displayed in the PC Link application.

If connection does not occur within approximately 25 seconds, the device
will automatically switch to active mode or switch off, and connection to the
PC Link application will not be possible. If this occurs, restart the
connection procedure.

If a device is inactive on the PC Link Module for approximately 10 minutes,
the communication link between the device and the PC Link application
automatically breaks.

4.3.3

Personal ID card

Do not insert a personal ID card into the PC Link Module while the
PC Link Module is connected to another product. The PC Link application
functions will be inhibited and error messages may be displayed.

1. Ensure that PC Link Module is connected to the computer, then launch

the PC Link application.

2. Insert the personal ID card into the slot in the PC Link Module (Fig F).
3. In the PC Link application, select 

Options > Manage user ID cards

.

4.4

During use

CAUTION

The PC Link application allows reprogramming of some parameters and
settings outside the compliance standards in the country of use.

Ensure that settings are not programmed outside the relevant local or
national laws and regulations.

The green LED on PC Link Module will illuminate or flicker during read
or write operations.

Troubleshooting

Contact Dräger if the symptom remains after the remedy actions have
been attempted, or if the symptom is not described in the table below.

6

Maintenance

The PC Link Module does not require any scheduled maintenance. Clean
the PC Link Module when required.

6.1

Cleaning and disinfecting

NOTICE

Immersion in fluids, and products other than a mild soap solution or
antistatic cleaner, may damage the equipment.

Do not immerse the equipment in cleaning fluids or water.

Do not clean the equipment with organic solvents or abrasive
materials.

1. Disconnect the USB cable from the PC Link Module.
2. Carefully clean the PC Link Module using a clean lint-free cloth

moistened in a mild soap solution to remove excess dirt.

3. Dry the PC Link Module using a dry cloth.
4. Carefully clean the PC Link Module using a clean lint-free cloth and a

proprietary antistatic cleaning agent.

5. Ensure that the PC Link Module, USB cable, and USB connectors are

clean, dry, and undamaged, then connect the USB cable to the
PC Link Module.

Disposal

Dispose of the product in accordance with the applicable rules and
regulations.

7.1

WEEE

This product must not be disposed of as household waste. This is
indicated by the adjacent symbol. You can return this product to
Dräger free of charge. For information please contact the national

marketing organisations or Dräger.
